The 2018 Sights and Sounds festival in Hanover, Ontario was back for another year of amazing live music, local craft beer vendors, food, dancing and fun! We had the opportunity to provide audio visual equipment for the second year in a row at this festival – working with artists from a variety of genres, including the rising
Canadian country artist Genevieve Fisher and local EDM sensation DJ Brady. The event had two days full of performances using our in house audio visual equipment. Our audio was powered by EV, Midas and Yorkville. Our lighting was powered by Martin, Elation and Chauvet. One of the biggest challenges we faced was providing a stage set up that had the professional look and feel for country music, while also being able to use the same audio visual equipment to provide a high energy, bright and fast paced show for an EDM artist.
Needless to say, everything went amazing. The artists loved what we provided and the attendees had an amazing time. We can’t wait to go back to Hanover in 2019 and do it all over again!
CONCERT SIGHTS SOUNDS
One of the greatest challenges we faced at this event was that our stage provided by another company. There was no opportunity to hang a PA from the stage, so we ground stacked a Yorkville Paraline system and doubled up the amount of bass cabinets to give that extra power to the low end for the EDM performance. You could feel the bass from across the park!
STAGE LIGHTING
Powering the lighting portion of this show was a combination of Martin LED moving heads, Chauvet LED Colourails and Lumi LED par cans. This variety of fixtures allowed us to give a sharp and clean look for the early night performances and also allowed us to “turn it up” for the late night EDM party.
EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS
For the second year in a row, we faced extreme rain during both days of this event. As a provider of audio visual equipment for festivals and events, weather can play a big part in the success of the event overall. We always show up prepared for any “worst case” scenario. In this particular case, there was heavy rain throughout the weekend. The show went off without a hitch. No time was lost at the event because of our attention to detail and pre-event preparation.
