Cooking Demonstration video with Chef Aicha Smith-Belghaba
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Six Nations Tourism reached out to Pynx Pro to create a set of cooking demonstration videos. These videos are now part of the “Fireside Foods Experience” at Chiefswood Park, where guests can opt for an educational eating experience in addition to their luxury cabin stay. The package includes all the necessary ingredients for three meals for four people, as well as an instructional video.
Acclaimed Indigenous Chef Aicha Smith-Belghaba was the star of the cooking demonstrations.
Pynx was on hand to capture the Indigenous culinary experience on film, which featured an array of delicious dishes such as maple and blueberry sausage patties, white corn hash, sweet potato and bison sheperd’s pie, Three-Sisters kale salad, turkey skillet with green beans, pumpkin puree, sweetgrass sweet tea, and strawberry juice.

THE CHALLENGE
Given the expedited filming schedule, our video production team were presented with a few unique challenges. A portion of the project required outdoor filming at night. Filming at night presents a number of unique challenges and obstacles for video production.
One of the biggest challenges when filming at night is lighting. Without adequate lighting, the footage can look grainy, dark, and difficult to see. This can make it hard to capture important details, and can detract from the overall quality of the footage. Nighttime filming often takes place in quiet environments, which can make any noise from the equipment or crew more noticeable. This can be a particular issue for audio recording, as the sound quality can be negatively affected by background noise.
Time constraints also provided a challenge, as we only had a weeks time to put the project together. In order to meet the strict deadline, a secondary editing team was used for the project.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Pynx Pro utilized an Aputure Light Storm LC 120d LED 3 Light Kit and Soft Boxes to overcome the lighting challenges that come with filming outdoors at night. This powerful lighting kit produces bright, high-quality light that is adjustable and easy to control. The soft boxes help to diffuse the light, creating a more natural and even look. By using this equipment, our video production team was able to capture clear and well-lit footage, despite the limitations of filming in low-light conditions. This helped us to deliver a final product that was of the highest quality and met the client’s expectations.
After filming, our editing team brought the footage into Final Cut Pro and meticulously applied various color correction techniques to harmonize the changing night sky. Our team then worked on the audio using Logic Pro to optimize the sound quality. We then utilized Waves Clarity VXPRO to eliminate any background noise from the outdoor setting.
Despite these challenges, we were able to deliver a final product that exceeded our client’s expectations, successfully capture all the important details and produced high-quality footage for seven separate videos.
