One of the highlights of the 2022 Canada Summer Games was the 13 For 13 Cultural Festival.
Held in Ontario’s Niagara region, this festival saw each of Niagara’s thirteen municipalities collaborate with one of Canada’s thirteen provinces and territories to showcase the unique cultural heritage, entertainment, art, and culinary experiences of each pairing during their assigned special night.
Pynx Pro was approached to provide concert production for three of the festivals main events. Pynx had the challenge of creating custom concert productions in three unique venues – each with a different stage set up, crowd space, and size. Our event production team was enthusiastic about taking on the challenge, especially because we would be working with some of the best musicians in Canada.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, August 10th
The first event as part of this two week series was located in Simcoe Park in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake inside of a bandshell. Said The Whale headlined the Niagara-On-The-Lake portion of the concert series. They are a JUNO-award winning indie rock band based out of Vancouver BC. For this event, the lighting team used a ground stacked lighting array which consisted of wash lights and blinders from Chauvet and was driven by a Chamsys lighting desk. This particular venue has an extreme dip in front of the stage with a bowel shaped audience area, so the audio team deployed a group stacked RCF line array system to fill the area.
Old Fort Erie, August 12th
The second date on this tour was at Old Fort Erie on August 12th. Six-time JUNO award nominee, The Trews took to the Fort Erie Leisureplex stage in Old Fort Erie. We deployed a Stage Line SL260 and a full sized RCF line array system that consisted of 16 x RCF HDL10 cabinets with 8 x RCF 8006 dual 18’’ subwoofers as well as an RCF monitor package. The audio system was driven by a Digico Quantum 338 at FOH and a Digico SD12 at monitor position.
Wainfleet, August 16th
The third and final live concert took place in Wainfleet Ontario on August 16th. Nunavut artist Susan Aglukark and Niagara artists the Great Lake Swimmers headlined the events at Wainfleet Arena Park. The pavilion stage at the arena included a small ground stacked RCF HDL10 line array system and a lighting show which was made up of Chauvet wash lighting and blinders.
The Summer Games concerts proved to be a rewarding challenge for Pynx Pro.
Our lighting production team were able to create a custom experience for each one of the concerts. The full stage rock experience from The Trews concert required more dynamic and animated lighting to match the energy of the band. Subtle lighting for a more intimate feeling was used for the Susan Aglukark and Great Lake Swimmers event. Our team was excited to push their creative abilities and design innovative solutions for a diverse range of venues.
The Pynx Pro sound production team utilized our powerful new RCF line array speaker system with a diverse range of musical acts. For large scale outdoor concerts, our sound technicians were delighted with the results.
Our crews had a ton of fun in the Niagara Region producing stages and working with some incredible talent. Event organizers in Ontario planning upcoming concerts or live music should consult with an expert at Pynx Pro if they require outstanding results and a unique experience for concert goers.
